About me
Crystal Montoya Rogers is an accomplished educator and Structured Literacy Coach with the Southwest Regional Education Cooperative (SWREC). With a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Pre-K–12 Specialty license, she leverages her extensive classroom experience—spanning grades 2 through 8—to lead and mentor educators across New Mexico.
Throughout her career, Crystal Montoya Rogers has focused on meeting the needs of diverse learners, supported by specialized endorsements in English Language Arts (ELA), Secondary Social Studies, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). She is deeply committed to the Science of Reading, having completed rigorous professional development through LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling). As an expert in foundational literacy, Crystal specializes in the implementation of Sound Walls to bridge the gap between phonology and orthography. By moving beyond traditional word walls, she helps teachers align their daily instruction with the evidence-based principles of how the brain learns to read.
Crystal’s unique blend of multi-grade teaching experience and advanced literacy coaching makes her a vital asset in instructional design. Her work is centered on driving student achievement and providing fellow educators with the high-impact, research-based tools necessary for successful structured literacy implementation.
