Dr. Ivetha Witherspoon is a consultant with Keys to Literacy and a distinguished expert in research-based writing instruction. She began her career as a public school educator in elementary education before transitioning to middle school, where she specialized in intensive reading and teacher coaching to improve instructional practices.
Throughout her career, Dr. Ivetha Witherspoon has delivered professional development centered on the latest research-based literacy content. After her tenure in public schools, she transitioned to the education private sector, serving as a literacy coach dedicated to supporting and transforming failing schools. In this capacity, she engaged with all levels of school district leadership and assisted teachers in significantly improving student academic achievement. Her academic background is extensive, including a B.S. in Elementary Education from St. Petersburg College, an M.A. in Reading Education from the University of South Florida, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix.
Currently, she leverages her expertise to guide K-12 administrators and literacy coaches nationwide. Her work focuses on bridging the gap between Science of Reading research and practical classroom application, specifically through frameworks such as the Writing Rope.
