About me
Jacob Mondragon is a seasoned educator with 17 years of experience across a wide array of educational environments, including private, charter, and large public school systems. His teaching expertise is remarkably diverse, spanning subjects such as music, fine arts, and mathematics.
Jacob began his career at the age of 20, student-teaching a middle school music class. Within just three years, his passion and leadership led to the significant expansion of the school's music department, resulting in a full-time position. While his undergraduate background is in Philosophy and Theology, he successfully transitioned into professional education through an alternative licensing route at New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU). Demonstrating exceptional academic drive, he concurrently completed his NM PED license requirements and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction within a single year. His graduate research focused on educational data analysis, specifically exploring its relevance to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beyond the classroom, Jacob is a devoted husband and father who enjoys camping and exploring new destinations. An accomplished musician, he is proficient in playing 12 different musical instruments. He is deeply committed to fostering growth within the education profession, prioritizing both his own professional development and the advancement of his peers. In his leisure time, he remains active and playful, often found enjoying a spirited game of frisbee.
