About me
Judi Dodson is a National Literacy Consultant and Thought Leader for the 95 Percent Group, where she specializes in the critical intersection of oral language, foundational literacy skills, and the neurological impact of trauma on learning. With over 20 years of experience as a special educator in Colorado, she brings a wealth of practical and research-based knowledge to her work with educators nationwide.
A former national LETRS trainer, Judi Dodson is dedicated to providing teachers and paraprofessionals with actionable, evidence-based strategies to foster highly engaged literacy instruction. She is the author of the widely used professional resources 50 Nifty Activities for Reading Instruction and 50 Nifty Activities for Speaking and Listening, both of which serve to translate complex reading research into accessible classroom practices. Her work emphasizes that strong oral language is the bedrock upon which all successful reading and writing are built.
Beyond her instructional leadership, Judi is a staunch advocate for literacy as a fundamental issue of social justice. This commitment extends globally through her role as the president of Peruvian Hearts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the education and empowerment of young women in Peru. Her mission is to ensure that every student, regardless of their background or circumstances, has the linguistic and emotional support needed to achieve full literacy.
