About me
Nicole Florez, Ed.D., is a Curriculum Designer at the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE) and a distinguished expert in literacy for diverse learners. With over 20 years of experience in elementary education, she brings a global perspective to her work, having taught internationally in both Spain and Argentina.
Throughout her career, Nicole Florez has been a pioneer in literacy advocacy and program development. She co-founded the Bridge Literacy of New Mexico program, a structured literacy summer intensive, and serves as a founding board member of The Reading League New Mexico Chapter. She earned her doctorate from Mount St. Joseph’s Reading Science program, where her research focused on multilingual learners, asset-based pedagogy, and translanguaging. Her professional history is defined by her commitment to integrating multi-sensory techniques with research-aligned instructional design to support emerging bilingual students.
Currently based in New Mexico, she enjoys spending her free time reading, cooking, and embarking on adventures with her husband, Brook, and her son, Liam.
