About me
Patricia (Trish) Gharrity is the Manager of Math and Science and the Program Manager for the Outdoor Learning Initiative at the New Mexico Public Education Department (NM PED). A proud native of Santa Fe, she brings 20 years of diverse educational experience to her leadership role at the state level.
Throughout her career, Trish has served as a classroom teacher (working with students from birth through 6th grade), an Assistant Principal, and a Principal. This broad perspective allows her to understand the practicalities of school leadership and the nuances of early and elementary development. She has been a longtime advocate for outdoor education, having successfully implemented outdoor learning programs as both a teacher and an administrator before transitioning to support educators statewide in these efforts.
In addition to her work at the NM PED, Trish serves as adjunct faculty at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) in the Early Childhood Education department, where she helps prepare the next generation of educators. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys exploring the New Mexico landscape with her two children through camping and hiking.
