About me
Norma Quiñones is an accomplished educator and performing artist who has dedicated over two decades to the students of Dolores Gonzales Elementary School. Her career is a testament to the power of integrating language, culture, and the performing arts within the elementary curriculum.
A graduate of the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Norma spent 15 years as a first-grade Dual Language teacher. In 2018, she furthered her expertise by earning a Master’s degree in Theater and Dance, a transition that allowed her to move into her current role as the school’s full-time Dance and Movement teacher. In this capacity, she works with students from Pre-K through 5th grade, using kinesthetic learning to foster physical and creative development.
Beyond the standard school day, Norma is a vital figure in the local arts community. She serves as the director of the after-school Folkloric Dance Group, preserving cultural traditions through movement, and is an active member of the Off Broadway Dance Company. A devoted wife and mother of four, Norma continues to champion the arts as a primary vehicle for student engagement and cultural expression in New Mexico.
