About me
Dr. Toby Soderberg is a native of New Mexico and a highly experienced educational leader with over 22 years in public education. He holds a Level III teaching and administrator license in New Mexico, reflecting his extensive background in classroom instruction and school leadership.
Throughout his career, Dr. Toby Soderberg has held diverse teaching positions in music and English Language Arts before moving into administration. He is a triple-degree holder from New Mexico institutions, with an MA in Educational Leadership from Western New Mexico University, an MA in Education (Reading/TESOL) from Eastern New Mexico University, and a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction (Educational Learning Technology) from New Mexico State University. Currently, he serves as the Project Administrator and Structured Literacy Coordinator for the Southwest Regional Education Cooperative (SWREC) in Deming, NM.
In addition to his administrative work, he is a dedicated academic, serving as an adjunct professor at Western New Mexico University and New Mexico State University. He teaches courses ranging from Multicultural Education and English Language Acquisition to specialized literacy topics such as Sociopsycholinguistics of Reading and Literacy Assessment & Evaluation. A former board member for the Southwest Branch of the International Dyslexia Association, he remains active in The Reading League-New Mexico and the American Educational Research Association. His primary mission is to support school districts and educators in providing an equitable education for all students across the state.
