About me
Darlene Fortier is the MLSS Coordinator for Santa Fe Public Schools and a highly qualified educator dedicated to student-centered learning. She holds multiple degrees in education and is a Level III K-8 licensed teacher with endorsements in TESOL and Language Arts.
Throughout her career, Darlene Fortier has championed the philosophy that children are the heavy lifters while she facilitates the instructional process. When in a classroom, she teaches with a growth mindset, guiding students toward the common goals of social-emotional wellbeing as well as proficiency in English Language Arts (ELA) and STEM. Her innovative approach has been recognized by Fine Arts for Children and Teens (FACT) for her success in using art as a vehicle for self-discovery. Professionally, she is a Teach Plus NM Teaching Policy Fellow Alumna, where her peers honored her as a visionary for spotlighting equitable opportunities for students and teachers. Additionally, she has served as a Teach Plus National Research Fellow, contributing to broader educational research and policy.
Currently based in New Mexico, she continues to advocate for equitable educational settings and growth-oriented instruction. She remains committed to fostering classroom environments where students are empowered to take ownership of their academic and emotional development.
